Rocky Mountain

Rocky Mountain is one of the most hiked mountains in our area. It shares a trail head with Black Bear Mountain and is located less than a mile from the town of Inlet. It is 1 mile round trip with an ascent of 475 feet. Rocky Mountain tops out at an elevation of 2,205 feet. It is quite steep in spots and is considered a moderate hike.

Along the path are many sections of rock that you can climb. If you are not interested in that, along the left and right sides are worn paths that are easier to climb. Usually, these paths are no more than a few feet away from the rocks. If it is raining, or has rained recently, the rocks can be very slippery. There are also many large tree roots spread throughout the path, so watch your step!

At the top you can see an expansive view of 4th Lake and the town of Inlet, as well as Route 28 leading into Eagle Bay. It is covered in large rocks, but I am not sure how it got its name. You can see 2 of the islands in 4th Lake - Dollar Island and Cedar Island.

Rocky Mountain is part of several hike challenges including the "Fulton Chain Trifecta Challenge" and the "Inlet Outdoor Family Challenge".
